Chairman’s Update – 7th June 2018

Railway Included on Local Heritage List

Dear All,

UDC has published their draft Local Heritage List and I’m pleased to say that The Railway Arms is included on it! Click here to view. The pub is included along with its outbuildings. If approved on the final list its historic and/or architectural significance can be viewed as a material planning consideration in applications affecting it. This will help to ensure its significance is preserved, and where possible enhanced, as part of future development proposals.

We learnt yesterday, at short notice, that the final Public Exhibition, which offers a chance to see details of all the proposals and to discuss them with council officers, was held at the Council Offices on London Rd and I was able to attend. Paper copies of the document will remain available for inspection at UDC Council Offices, the Library and the Tourist Information Centre until 4th July.

This is an important opportunity in our campaign to Save The Railway Arms Pub and I would urge everyone involved to show support for the inclusion of the Railway Arms on the Local Heritage List by making representations via the public consultation feedback form available to download here  before 3.30pm on 4th July 2018.

Thank you for your continued support

Cheers
Dave
